Summer Holidays in Lewis 2012

While most of the country have constant rain and parts of Devon had a month's rainfall in 48 hours, meanwhile the Western Isles, Hebrides, Scotland are having the driest summer for many years. Drought conditions with rivers very shallow and almost dry!

The first week of the summer holidays the kids had a brilliant time. The first day we bought picnic snacks in Cross Stores, Ness.  The kids had a great time in the park, from there we walked to the beach and on the way jumped of sand dunes and buried each other in the sand.

The next day was fantastic too!  We had a tour of the Westside of Lewis.  Our first stop was Dal Mor beach which we had all to ourselves for the first hour but our peace was not disturbed just a few surfer appeared later.

Our next stop was the Crloway Brooch, just look at the beautiful blue sky (see below).

Then antother short drive to the Callanish stone.
